Inception

The inception of Blacks In Government, founded by a group of visionary public servants committed to advancing the interests of African Americans in government.

Incorporation

Blacks In Government is incorporated as a non-profit organization under the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia.

First Annual Conference

BIG hosts its first Annual Conference, providing a platform for networking, training, and sharing best practices among members.

Expansion

BIG expands its influence, establishing chapters in various federal agencies and promoting professional development.

Programming

Launch of mentorship and leadership programs aimed at empowering the next generation of public servants. Darlene Young Leadership Academy was established.

National Training Institute

The BIG Annual Conference is established as the National Training Institute, further enhancing the organization’s commitment to training and development.

45th National Training Institute

BIG holds its 45th National Training Institute in Tampa Florida and commentates the event by “Leaving a BIG Footprint” paver on the riverwalk with local media and community leaders supporting.
